I don't understand why Republican leadership would want to circle the wagons around Greene. There's no benefit to that that I can discern.

She is the best representation of their base. If they abandon her like, they lose votes.

GA-14 is always going to elect a Republican to Congress.  But I have to think there are some saner ones up there that they could choose.  Adam would know more about this than I do.

They did have a saner alternative in the 2020 primary, and they still chose her.

If Democrats had an equivalent to MTG in Congress somehow, we wouldn't need Republicans to keep him/her out of Comittees. We'd do it ourselves in a heartbeat. Liz's threat means nothing.

The threat is that when the GOP has control, they'll remove committee assignments from Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, or some other people Fox News is mad at. And if they have the majority, they can do that and there's nothing Dems can do about it.

Did any of those people support execution/death of other House members?

Doesn't matter -it's all about false equivalencies for Republicans.  For them, any of these names are the moral equals of Marjorie Taylor Greene.   Roll Eyes

Perhaps this might be a hot take, but I don't think anyone should ever be stripped of committee assignments, under any circumstances.

It is literally their job as Congressmen to serve in committees. If Congress doesn't want them doing their job, then expel them. But if not, they should get to serve in commitees.

Why should GA-14's duly elected representative be treated any different from the other 434 congressmen? She may be crazy and stupid, but it's who the people of GA-14 chose to represent them in Congress.

Woodrow Wilson said that Congress in committee is at Congress at work, and Congress in session is Congress on exhibition. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a pure exhibitionist.

Interesting.  I wish that were the only thing that she was considered crazy for.....
