Who better to propose it?   Wink

Warren pushes tribal plan amid new Trump attacks on Native American claims

Quote
Sen. Elizabeth Warren has rolled out many detailed plans on the presidential campaign trail, but on Friday she released her longest, most comprehensive one. The topic: Native Americans and tribal rights.

The proposal, released ahead of a presidential forum on the topic in Iowa on Monday, comes as Warren has risen in the polls and as President Donald Trump has stepped up his attacks on the Massachusetts senator and her past claims of Native American heritage.

“The story of America’s mistreatment of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians is a long and painful one, rooted in centuries of discrimination, neglect, greed, and violence,” Warren wrote in a Medium post. “Washington owes Native communities a fighting chance to build stronger communities and a brighter future.”

At more than 9,000 words, the plan is more than double the length of any other proposal she’s introduced during her presidential campaign. That includes her ambitious plans to break up some of the biggest tech companies in the world, forgive more than $600 billion in student loan debt, and revamp the federal government’s investment in rural America — including a massive expansion of broadband.

Jim Cramer aside, do you not believe that Wall Street wants to stop Elizabeth Warren's candidacy at all costs?  I think what he said sounds quite credible, given her record.

^^^^^ In case anyone still has doubts about Elizabeth Warren's progressive bonafides...

Quote
Some big bank executives and hedge fund managers have been stunned by Warren’s ascent, and they are primed to resist her.

“They will not support her. It would be like shutting down their industry,” an executive at one of the nation’s largest banks told CNBC, also speaking on condition of anonymity. This person said Warren’s policies could be worse for Wall Street than those of President Barack Obama, who signed the Dodd-Frank bank regulation bill in the wake of the 2008 financial meltdown.

Quote
A hedge fund executive pointed to Trump’s tax cut as a reason why his colleagues would not contribute or vote for Warren if she wins the nomination.

“I think if she can show that the tax code of 2017 was basically nonsense and only helped corporations, Wall Street would not like the public thinking about that,” this executive said, also insisting on anonymity.

As with Barack Obama in 2008, it looks like black voters are defecting from the front-runner (in this case Joe Biden) towards someone who is starting to look like a winner:

Warren gets ‘dramatic shift’ in support from black voters
After struggling to win over African-Americans in the early stages of the primary season, polls show the Massachusetts senator is gaining traction with a pivotal constituency.

And this is before the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

Jack Burkman:

Quote
Jack Burkman is an American lobbyist and conspiracy theorist. Burkman drew significant media attention in 2014 for organizing a protest against the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL after the team signed Michael Sam, an openly gay football player, to its practice squad. He is also known for his involvement with far-right conspiracy theorist Jacob Wohl in two plots to make false accusations of sexual assault to frame public figures: one against U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller that was reported in October 2018, and one against Democratic presidential candidate for 2020 Pete Buttigieg in April 2019.

Burkman is the president of the lobbying firm Burkman Associates, LLC and the head of the conservative organization American Decency. He is the host of the Behind the Curtain podcast.

Jacob Wohl:

Quote
Jacob Wohl (born December 12, 1997 in Greater Los Angeles) is an American far-right conspiracy theorist, fraudster, and internet troll.  He was formerly an online blogger and a columnist for The Gateway Pundit website.

Wohl drew attention in 2018 after news outlets reported his and Jack Burkman's failed plot to discredit Robert Mueller, the U.S. Special Counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, by attempting to frame him for sexual misconduct.  In April 2019, Wohl and Burkman again received media attention, this time for attempting to frame Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana and declared 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, for sexual assault.

Wohl has created and promulgated other false or unfounded claims and conspiracy theories, mainly against Democratic Party politicians such as Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and Ilhan Omar.  On February 26, 2019, Twitter permanently banned Wohl for violating its rules regarding creating and operating fake accounts.  To aid his schemes, Wohl created multiple fake private intelligence agencies, and has fabricated death threats and protests against himself.

Elizabeth Warren Wants To Tax Corporate Lobbying

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has a plan to crack down on lobbying in Washington: She wants to institute a progressive tax on “excessive” lobbying expenditures.

The proposal from the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate was first listed among her proposals to rein in Washington lobbying in September, but she is now providing extensive details.

I don't see what Gillum adds to the ticket. Abrams would be a great choice, but she will almost certainly sit 2020 out and challenge Kemp in 2022. Am I the only one that thinks there aren't any perfect VP options? Like for any of the candidates?

Tammy Duckworth would be a good VP IMO.

A ticket with two women isn't unlikely, but methinks it won't go over well. I would love this ticket, but you know...America gonna America. Duckworth is also from a safe D state and doesn't necessarily help drive out the voting demographics that Warren needs.

And how about Senator Catherine Cortez Masto?

Would be ideal but she’s DSCC chair.

That is a complication, but not insurmountable.  I like the idea of her as Elizabeth Warren's running-mate in the sense that even if (God forbid) Warren loses narrowly to either Trump or Pence next year, she would be the instant 2024 frontrunner.  And the face of a new generation ready to take over the reins of the Democratic Party from the aging baby boomers.

What? Tim Kaine wasn’t the instant frontrunner this time.

In addition to what izixs said, I think Catherine Cortez Masto will be a much better quality running-mate than Tim Kaine ever was (I wish Hillary Clinton had chosen Elizabeth Warren instead in 2016 like I originally recommended that year).  Perhaps calling her an 'instant frontrunner' was a bit presumptuous, but being Elizabeth Warren's running-mate will give her at least a leg-up on all her competitors in 2024 if Republicans keep the White House next year.

I agree that Masto would be a good VP candidate but how is someone who will be 60 in 2024 (and is literally a baby boomer) "the face of a new generation"?

She was born in 1964, and therefore is Generation X (or close enough).  Or at least its leading edge.

That is unless you want to quibble over whether 1964 or 1965 should be the arbitrary cut-off year...
