Bump from a while ago, I know, but this post got me curious.
Why such the low ranking for Scalia on crim pro? Law school was a long time ago for me, so the details are fuzzier than they used to be, but I found Scalia to be rather good on the 4th, perhaps one of the areas where I would find him to be most on point (certainly more so than his schizo approach to the commerce clause).
Scalia is actually pretty good on criminal procedure, by my admittedly liberal metrics. Still, he's pretty conservative, for my standards, compared to the others clustered toward the top.
Some feeling about his decisions in other areas, like the equal protection clause, may have also snuck in...
