Gillibrand went from being one of the most conservative Senators in a blue state with a highly controversial record with right wing policies to one of the most progressive Senators who essentially supports almost every single policy that Sanders supports. She is literally trying to be a Sanders clone.

I don't think Sanders people will have any problem with her as the nominee if she continues this way given her political evolution has been long drawn since her election to the Senate, but if Bernie runs he has got the nomination & the chance to be another legendary President.

If Bernie doesn't, Gillibrand will be a strong contender because Warren won't get all of the Bernie wing votes !

The Sanders' endorsement in under-rated. Our-Revolution now has local offices, volunteers in even red states like Texas & is focusing on City Council, School boards, State Leg elections too & they have 4 years till now. They have Bernie Sanders' email list to raise huge money without Pac baggage. You have an army of volunteers & passionate young supporters. Bernie is a big draw in TV & has massive name recognition. He also has the progressive touch to his brand which helps in a Democratic primary.

Bernie should hold out as much as possible. Universal healthcare, student debt issues or climate change will should be key issues to getting his endorsement (as should be the history of the candidate).

Cory Booker, the piece of shi*, is doing his theatrics trying to live-stream with Schatz & Murphy trying to find the secret Trumpcare bill - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJfUSh1kDns

Totally phony as*, trying to be unconventional asking Cabbies & Camera-men weirdo questions which they don't want to answer or don't know!

What a weirdo - O'Malley vs Booker is going to be so much fun !

I just... really don't see it. And I say this as one of the resident torch waving Berniecrats on the board.
He's extremely boring which...might be an advantage in 2020 when Americans are hopefully tired of a blowhard?

Well arguably most of the current crop of potential 2020 Democratic Presidential contenders might well be classified as "boring", not to even bring up potential Republican contenders in 2020 if Trump is still Pres and someone chooses to run against (Kasich, Rubio?).

Americans might well be tired of a reality TV show come 2020, and boring would likely be an asset in both parties.

Still, plenty of time to go, and I am firmly convinced we are not done with the political roller-cycle ride that started about two years back, so who knows what we will all be saying 1-2 years from now.

He said what Bernie kind of said before 2016, he will run if there are no strong progressive voices left. Important thing to note is that Merkley & Warren both have said they support a Single Payer in recent things. I expect Gillibrand to join in & O'Malley will go wherever the wind blows.

DSA is staging protests against most senators for Trumpcare & for promoting Single Payer. They possibly had one at Booker's office too. Booker is absolutely toxic to the Bernie base !

There is nothing to say WI or Iowa people care for Klobuchar. Even Hillary originally is from Illinois right. By this logic Michelle Bachmann will win the Mid-west & Trump would win NY. No1 cares where Klobuchar is from. The only state which Klobuchar brings in play so far is Minnesota where she is an elected Senator. Beyond that, wait for the debates & then the polls.

Anyways, Bernie news (He is going to Michigan) -

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont congressman who won Michigan's presidential primary in 2016, will join U.S. Rep. John Conyers in Detroit on Aug. 22 for a town hall meeting on health care and jobs. The Detroit Democrat said the town hall will be held at 7 p.m. at Fellowship Chapel Church, 7707 W. Outer Drive in Detroit.

If Bernie's running, that means Warren will probably stay out. If she runs, it increases the chances of Booker/Harris/Gillibrand being the nominee.

Hopefully neither Warren nor Bernard will run. As of now, Warren declined to run, although that may change. I think Warren may not run if Kamala does, but support her colleague from California instead, because it's obvious that Harris is the stronger general election candidate.

0 chance that Warren endorses Harris. Warren & Bernie have been friends for years before her Senate term. She went to Vermont & did townhalls with Bernie years before her Senate candidacy. She is the natural VP for Bernie, her base is massively pro-Bernie & if Bernie is the President, he will likely be a 1 term President & Warren could be the next President. At anytime, Bernie could step down & Warren could step over.

Harris apart form being a poor candidate represents the same financial elite neo liberal wing whom Warren detests. And he likes Bernie & is the only sitting Senator to appear in the Bernie Sanders show & do a rally hosted by Our-Revolution after the GE.

If she is not endorsing Bernie, she is not endorsing anyone. She didn't endorse Hillary till it was over despite all the pressure.

Willie Geist‏ @WillieGeist
NEW: Sources close to @JohnKasich tell me, after Charlottesville, there is growing sense of "moral imperative" to primary Trump in 2020.

https://twitter.com/WillieGeist/status/897926417052127232

Strongly considering switching my registration to Republican just to vote for Kasich in the primary.

Kasich is not winning the Primary. He will win OH & a couple of other states at best. He is not beating an incumbent President.

This is the same thing people did for the Ohio primary last year & it was a waste of time & Trump still won.

As if Jeff Merkley. I think Vox was right. Every potential 2020 contender is slowly coming over.

...whelp.

As someone who isn't a fan of medicare-for-all... (or at least has substantial reservations) I know when I'm not on the winning side of an issue. Let's just hope whatever bill gets signed works and doesn't block advancement of that many other issues.

What are your issues with it?

Mainly that getting everyone, especially everyone who has coverage through their employer, onto the new system is going to be messy, and might result in worse care for a lot of people. I'm more a fan of a public option and/or further expansions of Medicaid.

I still doubt if it can pass. It will be messy, it will be tough & the entire pharma & insurance lobbies will be up in arms. It will be a more bloody campaign than the ACA.

But if it comes to pass, it will be a much better solution. It will cover everyone at a low cost & overall per capita GDP spending on healthcare will likely fall, outcomes will likely be better. The delinking with employer will be a massive boost to American business & will allow people the freedom to switch jobs or start their own firms.

Cory Booker has terrible political instincts

Democratic Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.) gave $20,000 to the legal expense fund of Sen. Robert Menendez (D., N.J.), who is now on trial for corruption charges, records show. Booker appeared at the opening day of the corruption trial last week and sat in the first row behind his Democratic colleague. Booker said he expects "some serious appeals" if his mentor is convicted. "He's innocent until proven guilty. So he is an innocent man," Booker said.

Booker made the contributions to Menendez's legal fund from his own leadership political action committee, which was named CoryPAC at the time of the cash transfers. The first donation from Booker's PAC to Menendez's legal trust was made on Aug 17, 2015, in the amount of $10,000, the maximum amount that can be donated to the legal trust in a calendar year. Booker's second donation was made on March 4, 2016, and was also for $10,000. On April 18, 2016, a little more than a month after the second donation was made, CoryPAC changed its name to Purpose PAC, Federal Election Commission filings show. Booker appears to be the only politician who gave money to Menendez's legal fund.
