The organization seeks to create leaders within Texas by addressing issues such as transportation, education and other community-based issues. The TL organizes public forums, publishes a journal and conducts polls.
The TL also offers annual scholarships to "motivated Texas students, exhibiting leadership qualities, to attain their goals through higher education."[1] The Lyceum is overseen by a board of directors comprised of 96 members from across the state of Texas. Former members include George W. Bush, Rick Perry, and Sens.
