WARNING! Do not vote until 0:00 EST (1:00 EDT)! You will have 72 hours in which to vote - there's no rush!

REPUBLIC OF ATLASIA - In Dave We Trust
Official Ballot

READ THIS FIRST

1. The election will last 72 hours, starting at 0:00 EST Friday December 8 and ending 0:00 EST Monday December 11.

2. You are eligible to vote in this election if you have made 10 posts on the Atlas Forum in the past 8 weeks, have registered as a voter with the Registrar General more than 7 days before the start of the election, and have not had your voting rights stripped as a result of deregistration or a court verdict.

3. You must vote by ranking your choices in the order of your preference: 1 for your first preference, 2 for your second preference, and so on. You may write in preferences for candidates not on the ballot. If you only wish to preference one candidate, marking an X next to the candidate's name or simply writing the candidate's name is sufficient, provided that you do not wish your vote to transfer to other candidates.

4. If you do not wish to vote for any candidate on the ballot nor to write in a candidate, you may vote for None of the Above as your first preference. All candidates ranked under None of the Above will not receive those preferences during the counting of the votes.

5. You are permitted, but not advised, to edit your ballot within 20 minutes of posting it within this thread. Deleting your ballot at any time or editing it after 20 minutes will result in the invalidation of your vote.

6. Please check over your ballot thoroughly before you click "Post". You have no excuse for casting a ballot which contains errors or does not accurately reflect your preferences. Failure to correct errors in your ballot may result in its disqualification. While the alphabetically-ordered ballot below is provided for your convenience should you wish to quote this post, you may order the candidates on your ballot however you would like.

Our adjective is Citizens! Like "I'm a Citizen, you're a Laborite, he's a Peacenik(?)"
Citizen was my first thought as well. Glad to get some official confirmation, though.

Will Fremont elections also be occurring in January to your knowledge?
If Kamala calls a snap election. If she doesn't, I believe the next election is due in February.

It will be in January regardless; parliament is up for election every three months, and since the current term began in November, the next elections are slated for January.
Man, I'm going back on the street where things make sense. (Alternatively, could you post a 2018 election calendar in the introduction to Atlasia thread?)

Right, I am an idiot. Upon consulting the Constitution, the next election will actually be in February (barring an early election). Now, if you will excuse me, I am late for a course in remedial counting.
Well, that's what I thought. Tongue

WI: Not_Madigan/Peebs - 4 (3.67%)
Unconfirmed Write-Ins (1 each for Politicalmasta73/PiT (the Physicist), Peebs/HomestarSB9, and Bore (unable to accept)) - 3 total (2.75% total)

All three unconfirmed write-ins are eliminated. No second pref for any of them, so they're all exhausted.

Pericles/MikeWells12 - 32 (30.19%)
Spiral/Adam Griffin - 23 (21.70%)

President, Round 1:
Fhtagn/PiT (the Physicist) - 47 (44.34%)
Pericles/MikeWells12 - 31 (29.25%)
Spiral/Adam Griffin - 23 (21.70%)
WI: Not_Madigan/Peebs - 3 (2.83%)
WI: LumineVonReuental/Siren - 1 (0.94%)
WI: Tmthforu94/Peebs - 1 (0.94%)

Lumine and Tmth are eliminated. The vote for Lumine goes to Pericles, the vote for Tmth goes to Madigan.

Round 2:
Fhtagn/PiT (the Physicist) - 47 (44.34%)
Pericles/MikeWells12 - 32 (30.19%)
Spiral/Adam Griffin - 23 (21.70%)
WI: Not_Madigan/Peebs - 4 (3.77%)

Madigan is eliminated. Two of his votes go to Pericles, one each go to Fhtagn and Spiral.

Round 3:
Fhtagn/PiT (the Physicist) - 48 (45.28%)
Pericles/MikeWells12 - 34 (32.08%)

Round 4:
Fhtagn/PiT (the Physicist) - 55 (52.88%)
Pericles/MikeWells12 - 49 (47.12%)

Fhtagn has been re-elected to a second full term.
Small correction: Lumine/Siren should have one vote on the first round, as both wrote themselves in for lower preference. Also, I'm fairly certain the three "unconfirmed write-ins" are just exhausted automatically, as those voters in effect did not vote for any candidate.
If that's the case, then Tmthforu94/Peebs also gets a vote in the first round, since I gave that ticket a first pref and Tmth gave it a second. Revised calculations in quote, if it matters.

If there is a new Federal Electoral act that becomes law (a possibility) will the Department and the Census bureau prepare a communications plan to inform the citizens of the country of the changes so they are aware of the new law?
I suppose I could, if it would set your mind at ease.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.

Objection. The census list states that I am registered as "Mario Party", and has for some time. Given that April Fools' Day was over two weeks ago, I was under the impression that the census was accurate and up to date regarding my registration. If, as you seem to be claiming, it is not, then I hold that I should be allowed additional time to change my registration for the ballot. I am willing to litigate if necessary.
Well, yeah, you can officially change it back within the next couple hours.

Could someone clarify the IRV rules for me? Specifically, what happens in a two-person race if there is a tie on the first ballot?
I think it depends on the region. Federally, they have a runoff, and if that ends in a tie as well, they split the term. In Lincoln, they just split the term. Not sure for the South and Fremont, though.

Too lazy to give the whole explanation, so here's a neat spreadsheet. Rounded to the nearest thousandth. Quota is 12, 116 valid voters total. ltomlinson, vern1988 (both not enough posts), PragmaticPopulist (edited too late), wxtransit (deleted original ballot), and Fuzzy Bear (registered too late) are invalid.

Question: what will you do with the House ballot that has two first preferences? Since we cannot read voter's intent for first preference it's like an invalid vote for House I reckon.
Yeah, it's exhausted when two candidates share a preference.
What about that voter who didnt rank their choices, and simply X'd multiple options? I don't remember the username atm.
I believe it would work from the top down (which is how it will be addressed in the calculations in the morning/afternoon). At least, that's what my sources are telling me.
