Ok, so what does this mean?

Romney's victory here certainly frustrates McCain and ends Huckabee's momentum, but does this translate into further victories down the line?

Romney's looking very good for the nomination now. He'll probably win Nevada and get a strong third in South Carolina, and then he just needs to outspend McCain in Florida again.

Feb 5 will derail him, methinks

See I don't think so. The Republicans aren't falling in line behind anyone yet and there's still three more primaries to go. If you get three or four primary winners going into Feb. 5 there's going to be no 'flocking' to one candidate or another. I see the vote fracturing with Romney getting a sizable chunk, simply on account of his financial resources delivering votes the way others' can't.

Giuliani's plan was to put no effort into the first 5 primaries, so you can't really tell anything about his 'support' from the anemic numbers you get here or anywhere else but Florida.

That said, I think an unintended down side of his plan was that 5 primaries where he doesn't place above fifth will probably make it harder to motivate his supporters in Florida. And if he can't get them there . . .

9 points is a large lead. Besides Clinton just now it's the largest lead any candidate has had in the voting this primary season.
