Wesley Clark for President:
Let’s get America back on track

General Clark announcing his candidacy for President in Little Rock, Arkansas. (August 1st, 2011)

”...Hello, my fellow Americans, I’m here to make an announcement I’ve never thought I’ve made. First, I’m gonna tell y’all why I came to this conclusion. The current President of the United States has proved himself to be inexperienced, and too incompetent to lead. Whether it’s his failure to stand up for the common man, his failed foreign policy and already proving to be failed intervention in Libya. He’s failed to produce an economic recovery, he’s proving to be just as a horrifying spender of taxpayer dollars, a foreign policy moving in the direction of Bush-era interventions. He’s proving himself to be a liar. Hell, three serious contenders are challenging him. The Republicans aren’t much better either. Just look at the Presidency of George W. Bush. Look at the debt, the wars, the wiretapping. We don’t wanna go anywhere near a third term of that, not in my lifetime. I’ve got the experience it takes to defeat both of these great evils, while also reversing the course of our nation, for the good. I’ll watch how much we spend while trying to protect the common man. I’ll always support equal rights for everyone regardless of gender or sexuality or anything. I’ll also protect American jobs, check if universal healthcare can be accomplished here, solve the immigration problem, and I’ll bring back a safe and sensible foreign policy. I’ll end the wiretapping and the failed War on Drugs. But, aside from that... I’ve examined the Democratic Primary field. It’s just. Ugh. They’ve left the middle class, and the Republicans have always been like that. Being a Democrat isn’t the same like it was in the days of President Kennedy. It’s really sad. That being said, I am announcing my candidacy on an Independent ticket. I will be campaigning in several states soon and starting up my campaign functions. I would like to ask for all yalls thoughts and prayers in this endeavor. It’s not easy, but I ask this of you America... Are you seeing a recovery? Did you like the days of George W. Bush? The answer for most will be no. So I ask... What do you have to lose? Try something new. Thank you, God bless. Let’s get this country back on track!!!

You do need to ask for approval before formally taking a character, Haslam.

I'll allow it though, so you may post that speech on the Gameplay Thread. Will you be seeking the Americans-Elect nomination or be full independent?

Sorry man, and oh full indy but if no other Americans-Elect candidate enters I can hopefully try to convince them to endorse me 😂

Hey, who’s the Secretary of State? Just wondering since Clinton’s still a Senator in this TL

Should be John Kerry.

Thanks! Also, couldn’t have been more eloquent on the exits of Obama and Romney.

Also, no objection to an extension. Wanna see what a Biden candidacy looks like.

Can the turn not be extended anymore? Just let Biden come in next turn.

I actually kind of agree.

Actually that would be a good idea. It would also be the most realistic thing to happen since Biden wouldn’t jump in just minutes after Obama making this announcement. I’m assuming he made it the last week of a November?

Call me crazy, but I don't think an under the radar independent bid from Wesely Clark is getting over 45,000 people to turn out for a rally in Charleston, West Virginia.

I dunno man I’ve made lots of speeches about the coal issue and think it’s probably one of my best states

Charleston has a population of about 50,000 so...

Oh, I’ll change it to 12,000 then. For some reason I thought it was 100k plus.

I could see it happening after the conventions...but before the conventions, I think your ceiling is what your're claiming in Iowa, around 15,000...mind you those numbers should also be toned down, as Iowa is kind of focused on the caucuses...maybe to around 5,000?

I think in states like Cali and Michigan the numbers I’ve had are possible but thanks for the info lol I’ll turn it down to 12k. But eh my message in Iowa is that both parties are awful. Who knows maybe I’ll get a few thousand write in votes 😂

I wonder if Clark was targeting me about politicians who don't keep their promises 🤔

He was targeting every major candidate, but when you start seeing winners in the caucuses ain’t finna lie I’ll start delivering personal attacks. Nothing personal guys, but it’s the most realistic 😂😂 Clark has a Trump mixed with John Anderson  vibe in this and I’m neutral about it

I’m surprised Bernie hasn’t endorsed Feingold yet, though.

Perry, Santorum, or Ryan would be good choices.

I have a shortlist for my VP’s, but I wanna see who y’all think I could pick Wink but I could see a Jones/Carolla ticket if Carolla performs better in some of these primaries

Since Clark technically is a Democrat, I imagine you have to pick a Republican...maybe Condolezza Rice?

Oh my, I wish. Imagine the getting over the past differences of ‘04, I could only see it happening if the Republicans deeply f*** up. I have a good few options, but I won’t announce the final contender until most likely the nominees are basically chosen. I think Biden will pull off a win in Michigan, and somewhere else. I don’t expect a Clinton blowout.

South Carolina and Michigan, if they go for Biden, would start to form an interesting race. Wonder what’ll happen to Upton in Michigan. If he loses, which is likely, I’m positive a primary challenger outs him. Hell, even if he wins. Carolla will fair well in more Western primaries, but I could see a Paul win in Maine,  a Jones win in MN, a Fletcher win in MO, hell, it’s gonna be a much crazier Primary than it was irl.

Please let this game continue, but maybe a Romney re-entry or the white knight would be a realistic possibility... maybe a Christie scandal? I dunno, but a Romney, Perry, or Alexander entrance... it’s interesting. I’ve always wondered what would it be like if Thune jumped into the primary back in 2012.
