The president of Argentina has declared (with the full support of the opposition, state governments and the media) a state of Total Quarantine which will begin at midnight and will last until (at least) March 31

Only a few sectors of the economy will be functioning (supermarkets and grocery stores/minimarkets/greengrocers, pharmacies and banks under a lot of restrictions) as will the healthcare system, security forces and a few posts in the Justice system

A curfew will be imposed in all  major cities and all other pla and you can be sentenced for up to 2 years in jail for violating the curfew without proper cause (so far the only proper causes are going to buy groceries or pharmacy products or working in one of the few sectors that will be working semi-normally)

Public transportation in the Buenos Aires area will be severely restricted (this last one is independent from the national quarantine)

Private hospitals, hospitals and sports club will cooperate with the public healthcare system

Schools and colleges have been closed since last week, and international borders are also closed

Yesterday evening I had a videoconference with two friends who live in Buenos Aires. They were at a coterie meeting with other people, the last before confinement. I told them about my last week living in quarantine. I believe Argentina is the first country in Latin America to join our club

Peru has been under quarantine since March 16 and their's is even more restrictive
