Instead of making a new thread for every poll that comes out try to keep everything in this one thread.

Rasmussen New Jersey Governor

Corzine (D) 47%
Forrester (R) 36%
Other 5%

September 19, 2005--In the race to be New Jersey's next Governor, Democrat Jon Corzine's now leads Republican Doug Forrester by eleven percentage points. That's up from an eight point advantage for Senator Corzine in August. In July, Corzine held a 12-point lead.

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll finds that Senator Corzine attracting 47% of the Garden State vote while Forester earns just 36%.

This is the third straight Rasmussen Reports election poll showing declining support for Doug Forrester. Immediately after being nominated, Forrester earned 40% of the statewide vote.

Overall, Corzine is viewed favorably by 41% of New Jersey voters and unfavorably by 33%. That's a slight improvement for the Democrat over the past month.

The numbers for Forrester are 34% favorable and 26% unfavorable, unchanged from a month ago. It is very unusual for two statewide candidates to have such low favorability ratings.

Forty-nine percent (49%) of Likely Voters say that New Jersey politics is more corrupt than in most other states. That's up from 47% a month ago. Six percent (6%) say it is less corrupt while 37% believe the level of corruption is typical of most other states.

Twenty-four percent (24%) say corruption will decrease if Forrester is elected. Twelve percent (12%) say it will increase.

Voters are evenly divided on the subject if Corzine wins--23% think that will lead to more corruption and 20% to less. Regardless of who wins, a majority of voters believe the level of corruption will be unchanged.

The telephone survey of 500 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports on September 14, 2005. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Forty percent (40%) of survey respondents were Democrats, 30% Republican.

President Bush has a 42% Job Approval rating in New Jersey. That's down from 44% a month ago and slightly below his national Approval Ratings.

In an early look at 2008, 41% of New Jersey voters plan to vote for a Democratic Presidential candidate. Thirty-five percent (35%) will pull the GOP lever while 21% said it will depend upon the candidates nominated by each party.

Corzines latest spot tries to tie Forrester to Bush.  IMO, its a sign of desperation by the Corzine campaign.  The question is... Will it work?

Desperation? Anyone who thinks that Corzine will lose is delusional. I stick to my original prediction of 54-45, though it will probably be closer to 51-47 or something along those lines.

I never said he was going to lose, but dragging Bush into a state election like this doesnt make much sense too me.  Its probably a good campaign strategy given Bush's lack of popularity, but Bush really is not relevant in this campaign.  IMO, its a sign of desperation.  Corzine has been slipping in the polls lately.

It is. Corzine is sinking and maybe this means I am delusional, cashcow, but I think it's very possible that he will lose. Forrester has some great tax ads up and one ad with just Dems complaining about Corzine and Co.

IMO, Corzines tax ad's are better.  He has one that nails Forrester for being the only candidate in this race to have raised property taxes (200%).

Forresters 'Democrats for Forrester'/Corruption ad's are good though.

Was this conducted this week? As if it's not bad enough for Corzine that he is only up seven, the fact that this might have been taken this week shows that the Clinton trip and the anti-Bush/Forrester ad did nothing for him.

Looks like the poll was conducted October 4th.

Apparently the Corzine camp believes they won both debates.  lol

I missed the radio debate tonight.  Anyone catch it?  If so, was it pretty even or another Forrester 'win'?

In other news.  The other day I praised Forrester's 'Democrats For Forrester Ad'.

Forresters 'Democrats for Forrester'/Corruption ad's are good though.

Well, after some investigating I found that not all of the 'Democrats' in Forrester's ad are really Democrats.

Giuliani stumps for Forrester, says change is needed in NJ.

SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday he'd do "whatever it takes" from now until Election Day to help get fellow Republican Doug Forrester elected governor of New Jersey.

Speaking at a hastily arranged rally at a Knights of Columbus lodge in central New Jersey, Giuliani told 175 or so party faithful, "This is a state that deserves the kind of honest, accountable leadership that Doug Forrester can bring."

Echoing New Jersey Republicans' mantra, "It's time for a change," Giuliani delivered a six-minute speech bursting with accolades for Forrester, who is in a tight race for governor against Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine.

Recent polls indicate Corzine's one-time double-digit advantage has shrunk to the low single digits with less than four weeks until the Nov. 8 election.

"Just so we're absolutely clear about it," Giuliani told an enthusiastic crowd, "I'm here for one purpose and one purpose alone: to endorse Doug Forrester for governor, to urge the people of New Jersey to vote, to give themselves the chance for reform, for change. And Doug Forrester can accomplish that."

Giuliani, who is considering a return to politics with a 2008 presidential bid, said $3 billion in tax reductions he instituted as mayor helped stimulate the city's economy and rein in its bloated budget.

"What Doug Forrester is talking about _ 30 percent reduction in the property tax, reducing spending _ is exactly the kind of discipline that will create economic revival and growth a year from now and two years from now," he said.

Giuliani also praised Forrester's failed 2002 Senate campaign, likening the experience to his own first bid for mayor, a race he lost by 2 percent of the vote.

"You learn a great deal when you come close and you do a good job but you lose an election," Giuliani said. "The campaign he's run this time is absolutely terrific, it's right on target."

When he was introduced by Forrester, Giuliani said "Thank you, Governor."

Standing outside in the rain after the event, Giuliani fielded questions for several minutes before jumping into a black SUV and being driven away.

Asked whether he'd continue to aid Forrester's gubernatorial bid, Giuliani said, "Any help that he needs. This is a very important election. If he wants me to do a commercial for him, I'll do a commercial for him. And if he wants me to do one for his opponent, I'll do one for his opponent. If that helps more, you never know!"

Figures released by election officials Wednesday, show $30 million has been spent on the race by Forrester and Corzine, two multimillionaires who are self-financing their campaigns.

Asked about the big money blitz, Forrester said he suggested to Corzine at the start of the race that both accept public matching funds, which would have capped what they spent.

"He declined," Forrester said of his opponent, "leaving me with no choice because of the caps in New jersey. He's throwing a tsunami of cash at this race."

The high-stakes race is likely to continue to draw the parties' biggest stars to New Jersey. Bill Clinton recently stumped for Corzine, and Laura Bush will visit on Forrester's behalf Friday.

There are no plans to bring President Bush to the Garden State. Forrester said scheduling conflicts likely would prevent an appearance by Bush, but did not mention that the president's popularity is at an all-time low in Democratic-leaning New Jersey.

Define landslide?

If the undecideds break evenly your looking at a 54-45 Corzine victory.

The New York Times Poll:

Corzine 46%
Forrester 37%

This poll was done October 14-19 among 750 likely voters.

Monmouth University/Gannett Poll:

Corzine 45%
Forrester 38%

This poll was also done October 14-19, but they could only round up 371 likely voters.

Not happening.

I know, but Im still in denial.  I dont understand why Codey wants to stay in Trenton when he could be in Washington with the big dogs.

Menendez has over $4 million COH currently.  Hopefully he'll hold off until 2008.

I read about that yesterday.  Thats some serious cash for a safe incumbent congressman.

Come on, Nick. The supposed "bombshell" is that Corzine has an illegitimate child. Totally ridiculous rumor being put out there by rightwing blogs.

It won't go anywhere and reeks of desperation. The GOP will say or do anything to smear their opponents. It's time we stop giving credence to their ridiculous claims.

Whoa there, Scoonie.  I had no idea what the 'bombshell' was.  I just heard there was something big about to go down.  I had no idea it was this big, and according to you false.
