I'm worried about the possibility that NZ's voting public ruin this opportunity to remove colonial sympolism and adopt a real flag. Australia allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by the "muh veterans" argument and they remain a nation without a real non-colonial national flag. New Zealand's flag is the same as it stands now, I know the new design has it's flaws, but the old colonial flag is a meaningless relic from a bygone era that is difficult to differentiate from it's neighbor.
