Do you differentiate between Iranian Jews and non-Jewish people of Iranian descent?
I’m wholly not surprised, as not only does wealth have a lean towards originating in metropolitan or suburban areas, but that already highly-educated diaspora originating from rich families makes this list. Why there’s so few Hispanics and no African Americans is pretty self-evident given structural barriers. I’m going to guess with good confidence that most of the Hispanics on this list either pass as white here or are considered white back home.
Seems like you didn’t stratify based on immigrant status, I would think that would split the 58% white category between “long term Americans” and immigrants significantly.
The lone Iranian is Pierre Omidyar, who as far as I know is not Jewish. I don’t believe any of the Jewish folks listed are Iranian but I didn’t dig into their backgrounds too deeply. Yes immigrant status (or gender) would also be interesting breakouts and maybe do it if I have time. The majority are American born but there are a decent amount of immigrants. The one Hispanic is Ernest Garcia, who is of Mexican descent. I don’t know if he identifies as white or not
