She has no chance, very sad to see many on here denying reality.  Dan Lipinski is a perfect fit for his district.  He is beloved.

Also, IF he were to lose, it wouldn't be to someone running to his left.  The Democratic base in this district is not swinging left.  The 2016 presidential numbers stagnated because Trumpy collapsed in the Republican areas in the western part of the district.  Those same suburbanites who went Romney>Clinton arent likely voting in this primary and if they are, they're not going to be won over by a bold progressive.

FURTHERMORE, the other factor in this district is the rapidly growing muslim and to a lesser extent hispanic population.  If liberals found a candidate to appeal to those voters, not a traditional Lipinski base, they might have more success.  This lady doesn't do that at all, she is not positioned to sweep them up and that would be her best shot.  They have no reason to be displeased with Daniel.

It's funny how out of touch people on here and nationally are with the good, humble, hardworking people of this district.  Even if Lipinski loses due to a small and angry minority, he will run in the general and win.

In Tennessee?

Sure.

We have a two party system.  TWO choices for president.  The fact that Hillary/Obama won the district says that out of two bad choices, they choose the lesser evil.  That doesn't mean that the national Democratic party is in touch with the people of IL-3.  Dan L is.

lmao, you're so convinced that the views of "the people of IL-3" align with your personal politics. Would you vote for Bernie? They did.

It voted for Bernie largely because the 2016 primary in Chicago essentially became a proxy war for the Mayor - Rahm backed Clinton, his Hispanic opponent Chuy Garcia backed Sanders. Hispanics in Chicago ended up breaking pretty strong for Sanders thanks to this endorsement, and the 3rds Democratic Base is heavily Hispanic.

I have been meaning to make a more dedicated post in this thread with maps, and I will soon, but here is the basic point. All the white ethics that people are talking about in Southwest Cook are Republicans now - or at least a majority. The Democratic vote is now increasingly tied to the northeast third of the district and the Chicago arm which combined contain roughly half the vote. So while Lipinski probably represents everyone on both sides of the line fine, he is probably weak in a primary. The problem for dems though is that this district is the weakest of chicago metro Democratic seats. Running a staunch progressive in the General probably isn't the smartest idea.

The white ethnics are still voting Democrat in Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, Burbank, and LaGrange if just barely. The thing with this district is that do to population loss it is expanding out into exurban Will County and the eastern fringes of DuPage.

Luis Gutierrez, Jan Schakowsky, Toi Hutchinson, wow!  Out of district insurgents who have no influence over the voters.

Sandra Bury, on the other hand, is the beloved mayor of the largest town in the district and is strongly supporting Congressman Dan.

Further to my point, Lipinski rolled out a list of endorsements from 30 local mayors, basically every major population center outside Chicago.

One candidate is rolling out endorsements from big liberal organizations and far left outside politicians, and one is getting them from nearly every local politician in the area.  I wonder what that says?

That the local machine protects its own boy, just like the New Jersey one does for Menendez.

Yes, precisely.

The Romeoville train station that opened this week NEVER would have happened with an innerective congressperson like Marie Newman.  Thank you Congressman Lipinski for bringing home the bacon!

I can't wait for the machine to crush this progressive fantasy.  We don't need privileged North Side Liberals telling us how to vote.

This area is almost the same as it was 30 years ago though.  There is not much going for it, no good jobs, dying industries and declining population.  The only difference is Mexican immigrants, who are NOT the voters Newman is targetting.  The gentrified Bridgeport neighborhood is probably 1% of the voters here.

Yeah La Grange is the epitome of an,economically stagnant working class area.

It has some nice parts.  It's also losing population.  You can cherry pick the wealthiest parts (It's a town of 15,000)  if you want but that's totally unrepresentative.

Since you seem to know more about this district, what do you think is going to happen with the primary?

I think Lipinski will win narrowly but I am a lot less confident than I was a few months ago.  He hasn't run any ads while she has been bombarding the airwaves.  The district as a whole is definitely with Lipinski but I don't know what will happen in the Democratic primary where clearly liberal activists are the most fired up this year.

I see. And what do you think the consequences would be if Lipinski were to lose? It seems as if most of the people here want him gone, simply because he is not a all-out progressive as they would prefer most Democrats to be.

If Lipinski loses?  Nothing.  The Republican is a Nazi and this is still a Democratic district, so people will suck it up and vote for her.

His record in Congress involves bringing a train station to his district just this past year, along with leadership on transportation issues (his district includes some rail yards too, atop all of that). How is that awful?

So, about this...

Not extending the deadline would have caused Metra to shut down.  PTC is an unfunded mandate whuch most railroads across the nation (or all) would not have been able to meet in 2015.  Thanks for keeping the trains running, Dan!

I'm sure the voters of IL-3 are paying close attention to what a few random Obama organizers from many years ago have to say.  Ice burn.

I'm not buying this JUNK poll.  There are more than enough mindless Democrat machine shills in this district to save Dan.  Let it be so!  If it's not, it will be open season on Catholics all over Illinois.

I always am appalled to see the views of people, here, and elsewhere, who seem to think that all Democrats must be pro-choice, and vice versa for Republicans. Abortion now seems to be an issue where you either with someone, or against someone. No room for differing opinion.

Really mind-boggling as to why people might support politicians who share their views on contested political issues. Very appalling indeed!

The bigotry is appaling.
