Because rock music and its guitar-driven subgenres stopped being any good about 30 years ago. Nothing interesting to young people nowadays is going to come from an ossified gen-x genre like hardcore which was played out before they were born.

Good music in 2017 (ex.) is the exploration of new soundscapes via electronic programming, not some guy screaming into a mic while playing a three-chord riff like every idiot's been doing since Chuck Berry.
