There was a flaw in the vetting process, it was fixed, the Iraqi ban was overturned. Not remotely the same.

And how do we know that the current vetting process is not flawed without making normative assumptions?

Also, even if it was the same, "but x did it too!" is one of the worst defenses.

One can be skeptical of a policy but disagree that it is unprecedented and bigoted.
