I noticed Brian Stelter didn't seem surprised.

How is this a problem?  Johnson doesn't like people to get hurt.  He might have said something like, "hey, at least no one was hurt" but instead he said that he was "grateful."  Okay, so maybe he believes in a god or gods.  That's not unusual.  So he is glad that no one got hurt and he is expressing gratitude to whatever universal forces were active in ensuring that no one got hurt.

By the way, all 29 people admitted to that hospital have been released.  They don't release you if you're coughing up an organ.  Try to get over yourselves.  Don't be surprised Johnson is glad that no one was seriously hurt.  I know that it's hard for the Trump supporters and the Clinton supporters to imagine that someone might be legitimately relieved that no one was hurt, but some people do have human feelings.  There's nothing to see here, people.  Move along.

But that's not what he said! And since he's not a part of the dinosaur two party system, you can't assume common sense.
