Just curious, but what sort of politician of the past would you also consider a "classic liberal"?  I wouldn't have thought you'd classify yourself as a classic liberal, but then again you're tough to classify in the first place.  I have a hard time thinking of Goldwater as a classic liberal... Wink

Present-day libertarians are rather similar to classical liberals. In retrospect, I would call myself a libertarian.

I would consider Thomas Jefferson to be a classical liberal.
