People use the same word for different things.
I would wager that the vast majority of 'Socialist' posters on here advocate with things more in line with Social Democracy in the same vein as many of the left leaning Western European Parties.
In that case we would need a social democrat avatar.
To me, Socialism is essentially a synonym to 'communism' in that the person advocating for this ideology promotes the overthrow of the capitalist state and the establishment of a marxist-leninsts style of government and economics. In other words, full revolutionary change, not just 'increase the minimum wage to $15' or whatever people in Seattle are up to these days.
1. There is such a thing as democratic socialism.
2. Even if I decided that a Marxist-Leninist revolution was the best course of action (which I wouldn't, considering the outcome of such revolutions in the past), I would still vote Democratic in elections where my vote actually counts, since the chance of a revolution happening is pretty much 0%, and Democrats actually have a chance of getting elected. I'm not going to let the Republicans ruin the country on the off-chance that it might inspire some people to try to turn this country into the Soviet Union.
