I'd immediately think they were a Saints fan (being in the South I see tons of Saints fans--yes even in Atlanta). But with the Indiana outline I'd just assume it's some obscure thing I've never heard of and move on with my life.
If you like the band, get the shirt. People who know what it means will like it, and if people think you're Catholic, who cares? There are worse things to be. And if they ask you about it, you can teach them about the band!
You seem to be maximizing the importance of a T-shirt, and connecting it to politics, more than any sane person would. But then again, I do lots of odd stuff, too.
