Alright, I have a few bills here to introduce:

Police officers lie to people too often; this needs to stop.

I'm pro-life, but I can see that the goal isn't merely to outlaw abortion, but to take common sense measures to reduce the number of abortions. This is a way to do it, and I think even our pro-choice members can appreciate it's intent. Estimated cost: $1.5-2B, no more than a few percent of our surplus. (And yes, #1 was stolen borrowed from the Northeast.)

It's not a perfect bill at all, and I expect it will be improved a lot on the legislature floor. I'm willing to incorporate other ideas, or dramatically alter the current ones.

All of these might need some work, but that's what we're here for, right? We need to be doing something, I think this is a good start.

This thread has been too quiet...

Spiral, Clarence, and Goldwater should PM me if they have any vague ideas/epiphanies/visions they want to flesh out into workable bills.

Could someone possibly introduce this for me???

A copy has been sent to the Speaker's desk, sponsored by Governor Leinad upon the recommendation of Secretary of State Classic Conservative.

I have a couple questions, though, so I'd be happy if you could stop by the capitol and answer them during the debate of this bill.

And thanks, Secretary! I think that firearm safety is a great thing to be teaching the region's children.

I've floated this idea around behind the scenes, and it seems well-supported:

For the record, the Constitution sets the number at 5, saying that the Legislature has the ability to change it (as they have--to 3):

So, this is the proper, Constitutional way to do it.

The Criminal Justice Reform Act of 2016:

1. If a police officer goes through your documents or your home without a warrant they shall face a $50,000 fine and go to court on charges of invasion of privacy.
2. This act would call for small cameras to be put on each officer, supplying for 100,000 of these cameras (thus costing about $5,000,000).
3. The police can not demand people to stop recording police situations. If they do, there will be an ethics investigation, and they will face a fine of the wages that they miss.
4. This act reinforces the right to peaceful protest, and police officers will be punished if they infringe on that right by in any way impeding, discouraging, or abusing people legally protesting something.
5. The punishment for infringing on protest rights will be at least a weeks wages, and will be immediate dismissal and criminal charges if violence is involved on the part of the officer.
6. In the event that someone in the South serves time in prison for a crime it was proved that he/she didn't commit, he/she shall be liable to a 3,000 dollar grant for each year they served.

It's an amendment, just because the name is changed doesn't mean it's a new bill.

This shall be introduced later but...

The People's Government Bill

1. Citizens will be allowed to introduce bills in the SE legislature, even if they are from other areas, essentially allowing anyone who wants to introduce a bill can introduce one.
2. The Maximum amount of bills being debated or voted on shall be increased to 4.
3. Tax rates, current states of the economy, etc shall be released every five months.
4. Southern Government spending shall be publicly view-able.

Sounds more like a constitutional amendment.

Although, on #4, we should do our budget. We normally try to do that each year anyway, so #s 3 and 4 are redundant.

By the way, I will oppose this measure. Why on earth would you give most of the same powers to non-legislators as you would to legislators? The legislative elections are supposed to have meaning--it's not a ceremonial title.

Also, non-citizens? I think that's crazy. In real life, I, as a citizen of Georgia, should not be able to go into Tennessee and vote on their referendums and elections and whatnot--much less propose legislation for their state legislature. (I get that it's a different idea, but hopefully you all understand my point.)

Not that this is a place for debate--just giving my two cents considering that other's gave theirs.

Haslam can introduce that and we can debate on it, but you didn't make the corrections I suggested.

It gives no indication to where it is (it's Article III) and sections are given numbers, not Roman numerals (articles are given Roman numerals).

Passing the new Constitution will be one of the most important events in Atlasian history. I think the people of the South should have a say in voting on it. (And no, this will not block the ConCon from passage. If it was going to, I wouldn't be trying to pass this, now would I?)
