And overall a majority of Republicans support a ban on Muslims and 27% of them support the closing down of mosques. A bunch of freedom-loving fellas indeed.

Closing down of mosques is an idea of nutjobs. The growing numbers of those who want to "ban a religion" are actually those calling for a temporary ban on Muslims from foreign countries coming via visas. Not reasonable or really possible, but still has logic at its roots during the crisis right now although I disagree that it's the solution. For those that do call for Islam to be banned, they obviously haven't read the constitution they boast so proudly about.
