Liberals are back in the lead in every riding on Newfoundland except for St. John's East.

CBC is interviewing someone named Karen right now who is like the nicest version of the Karen stereotype imaginable. Middle age woman with short hair and a big Liberal pin. Per Karen, Trudeau has been "so good on the COVID."

The mail ballots are a big question mark but this isn’t looking like a Liberal majority.

Justin Trudeau has the political instincts of a fourth grader.

That's called "populism." Tongue

Liberals are now up 5% in Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, so that may be slipping away for Tories, but who knows at this point.

CBC reporting that a certain door at a ballot processing center (or "centre," I suppose if that's the rules of this thread) must remain closed because if it's kept open, bats will fly in. I can just imagine Canadian QAnon saying bats flew in and tampered with the ballots.

South Shore-St. Margarets called for Tories. That's a flip.

I know it’s dangerous to judge based off Atlantic Canada but… based on that. Woof

Conservative plurality and days of negotiations it is

4 gains (and 2 Liberal gains over NDP and Green) in Atlantic is not enough for them to pass Liberals in seats. They would need 6 to 8.

I get the feeling this will not be the last time MillennialModerate posts Liberal doom in this thread tonight, if the US presidential election night thread and the Georgia Senate elections threads are any indication.

The CBC's Asian version of Steve Kornacki is great! Strongly dislike the main anchorwoman though.

Lol. I literally just called him Canadian Steve Kornacki to my mom. We need to invite him on Atlas if he gets a kick out of watching cumulative vote count graphs over the course of the night.

Is it just me, or do fewer incumbents in Canada seem to run for re-election than in the US? If that's the case, is it their own choice or a nomination process thing?

That Gatineau result with Green leading has to be an error lol.

Cue the "Virgin Fredericton vs. Chad Gatineau" memes.

Going solely by current leading candidate, NDP is +3 overall, LPC is at no net change, and CPC is down 1. Stop the count!

Tonight is definitely shaping up to be a big win for aesthetically pleasing maps, especially the NDP seats.

I don't understand the "this election was a waste of time" narrative when the polling varied pretty substantially over the course of the campaign. Sometimes early elections lead to vastly different results and sometimes they don't. Holding an election two years after the previous one, a time during which one of the most substantial events in any of our lives has taken place, and one which has required all governments to act with haste and often against public opinion seems like the best time to hold an election like this, especially if it reaffirms public support for the status quo when there are extremely loud and influential voices calling for dramatic changes in the face of uncertainty on all ends of the political field.
