I disagree that Obama is "spunky." Spunky to me implies a certain degree of frivolity or at least informality in their persona. I'd say Sarah Palin is pretty much the quintessential spunky politician, as much as I dislike practically everything about her. For Democrats, I'd go with Bill Clinton as the spunkiest politician - pun only somewhat intended.
