It's always easier to organize protests when you're in the opposition than when you're running government. And it's easier for Democrats to have these massive rallies simply because they tend to live closer to one another than Republicans. Hence, protests will almost certainly be more common under Republican presidencies, unless voting demographics change dramatically.
