Mom Socially: I'm probably to her left, but only by a bit. Fiscally: We're about the same. Foreign policy: I'm more of a realist, and she's more of an idealist, but otherwise about the same.
Dad Socially: We're pretty close, but I think I'm farther left. Fiscally: About the same. Foreign policy: About the same.
Maternal grandparents Socially: I'm to the left, but they're probably both in the 99th percentile for most socially liberal in their age bracket. Fiscally: Both were kids during FDR, so they're pretty far left. I'm probably to their right, but it's close. Foreign policy: They're both pretty much pacifists, so I'm more hawkish.
Paternal grandparents Socially: Not really sure what their views were, but I'm probably to their left. My grandma was pretty Catholic. Fiscally: I'm probably slightly to their right, but I'm not sure. Foreign policy: My grandpa was in the military, but was staunchly opposed to the Iraq War. On balance, we're probably about the same.
