Yellowhammer and Indy, who do you think is favored in the R primary, especially if Byrne runs? I’d rather they didn’t nominate Moore or Zeigler because this seat is a must-win for Republicans no matter how you slice it.

If Byrne runs I believe he would be favored. Ziegler doesn’t have a chance and I don’t believe Moore does either. He was already extremely polarizing before the allegations came out.
I have a feeling it'll either be Byrne or Brooks.

How to lose Alabama 101 for dummies, seriously is he even trying anymore?

I'd rather him be a loving father than someone who would pretend to be homophobic for political gain.

I disagree.
Ugh. Stop. He’s going to lose the state and everybody knows it. Loving his child means more than winning the votes of homophobic right wing bigots.
And who knows?  That video may help save one gay or trans teen in Alabama.

You're disgusting, in all honesty.

What can I say? Probably. I want our people to do whatever they have to do (as long as it is not violent or illegal or anything like that) to maximize their chances of winning, even if it barely helps at all, and they are severe underdogs, don’t give up the fight until it is completely un-winnable and do whatever you can (besides the above exceptions) to get yourself even the slightest of an advance. And if it means either ignoring or slamming pride month in Alabama (obviously a much better political decision than celebrating it for Christsakes we are talking about Alabama)  I honestly am completely fine with it, so be it. Try your best to appeal to the electorate. I’ll sleep just fine at night. Even if it is not actually his views, lie about it anyways.
If we followed this advice, the Civil Rights Act probably wouldn't have passed until the 80s, maybe even 90s.

For a state like Alabama, that's pretty good.

Some Trump supporters in Alabama may be mad at Sessions for how he handled the Mueller investigation, but they aren't mad enough that they'd sit home or vote for Jones, especially with Trump at the top of the ticket.  If Sessions gets in, Solid R at best, Safe R at worst.

I wonder if Session's views will soften somewhat like Lisa Murkowki's did if he makes it back to the senate.
Why?  He's an elderly conservative Southern man in a state dominated by conservative Christian Southerners.  I don't see any gain for him to become a Moderate Hero.

Just because getting thrown under the bus tends to soften your edges.
I mean, he might moderate on one or two issues, but that's about as far as I could see him go.  He's still going to be pro-life, anti-LGBT, pro-immigration restrictions, etc.

To Alabamians or Alabama experts: Who comes out of this tug of war unscathed?  Does Moore pull off a miracle?  Do the denizens of Alabama forgive Sessions for his role in Mueller?  Or are we getting Byrne or Tuberville?

Is it possible Sessions splits the "typical conservative" vote with Byrne and Merrill, thus allowing for a Moore vs. Tuberville runoff?
