Can a two-woman ticket win?
How do you guys think an Elizabeth Warren/Catherine Cortez Masto ticket would do? I chose them because I know that Warren and Cortez Masto are super close, and I think they have great chemistry. A Massachusetts/Nevada ticket is my kind of ticket, too.

Yes. She should pick her or Julian Castro.

At this point it is indisputable that Warren has the most transformative yet realistic agenda for millennials and black America. I’m supporting her as my top pick at this point. I think she has an unusual and narrow path but it’s there.

For sure. I think especially with Julián Castro as her VP, it would be an excellent ticket. My biggest concern would be the debates, as she would win the way Hillary did, but, well, it would be a repeat of those debates.
I wish she wouldn't even debate him. He is a liar and criminal. The debate wouldn't even be centered on substantive policy. He just wants to troll her with 100 million people watching. It would be him spouting lazy talking points and calling her Pocahontas. But if she declined to debate the concern trolling lamestream media would say she's scared to face him. Roll Eyes
The "Pocahontas" Incident is why Warren would be the worst general election candidate.  It shows Trump can easily bait her and get under her skin.  That isn't something the Dems need going into the general.

Anyone who would vote against Warren for this probably hates her for some... *other* reason, and would find a different explanation/excuse to not vote for her, such as her being "shrill" or "unelectable" or something like that.
No, it has to do with the fact that she failed the most important test of 2020: DON'T. GET. BAITED. BY. TRUMP. DON'T. LET. HIM. GET. UNDER. YOUR. SKIN.

Bye-bye to any hopes of Dems flipping the Sunbelt if she's the nominee.  And doubly bye-bye to any hopes of Senators McBath, Tomlinson, and Hegar.

Why would this position be toxic in Georgia?
Because bougie suburbanites in Atlanta might be shifting left, but not this left.  And Southern suburbs are still more conservative than Northern suburbs.

Regardless, this position wouldn't play well in certain swing states either, given that many displaced coal miners have taken on fracking jobs.

4- She will not get the minority turnout she needs to win
She will get the same black turnout that Gore, Kerry, and Hillary did. She just needs to maximize their influence where our vote is decisive (MI, WI, PA, NC, GA, FL)

No Democrat will get Obama-esque turnout until a prominent black Democrat like Abrams runs for POTUS.
I think for a white Dem to win, they need black turnout levels somewhere in between Gore/Kerry/Clinton and Obama.

I wonder what those 3 Dem Nominees have in common
They lost but Bill Clinton didn’t really do much better either and in several of these places the black vote is more of the electorate now than it was then so.... and the black turnout isn’t the only thing that will be occurring... this doesn’t take into account the Dems gains with college educated whites which helps them in the suburbs where Dems used to get blown out.

Bill Clinton also did very well with Working Class White Voters in the Upper South, Appalachia and the Midwest and the GI Gen still had influence over politics in those days.

Clinton also did very well in the suburbs

He didn't do well in the Southern suburbs, which are shaping up to be the political battleground of the 2020s.

Bernie cultists have been attacking and unsubscribing to David Pakman simply because he reports on polls that show Warren ahead, when clearly these polls are a conspiracy against Sanders. LOL
The leftist version of 2012's "Unskewed Polls."

Nothing like arrogant establishment Democrats parroting each other on how stupid those progressives are.
Maybe if your crew wasn't so insufferable in 2016, there wouldn't be so much mocking...

-snip-

Now this is what I want to see.

In addition to investment in the Maine Senate race, the memo from Roger Lau mentions support for:
-House Dems in "states like" Illinois and California, where the party has freshmen to defend
-Investment in Georgia to support Dems in BOTH Senate races
-state legislative campaigns in Michigan and Minnesota
-state parties in Texas and Florida

Liz is building the party. She's the only candidate that fully understands the stakes of this next election and is ACTING on it.
I would like to see her not just supporting dems, but progressive dems. Warren is decidedly to the right of Bernie and her record shows that she should not be completely trusted.
Shut up. She endorsed two progressive women primarying conservative Dems in safe D seats two weeks ago.

Excited seeing her invest ME, GA, and TX early. Surprised it wasn’t in the memo but she will be investing in NC too.
No.

Can you provide any information to prove that Warren has been funneling money to and endorsing progressives? I know she endorsed Markey (which is good) but she had been extremely friendly with the corrupt Democratic establishment recently, when Bernie has not.
I can't even stand Warren, but I'd wager she's a lot smarter in building the party than your tankie idol is.

Looks like someone's a little testy when they have to go off-script.  Seriously...this is a bad look for her to act so defensive, evasive, and just downright nasty.  If she's this way with a fellow progressive, how's she going to handle DONALD TRUMP?!

She didn't seem nasty though, and had a good demeanor throughout. It was a light-hearted response. You can't reasonably expect presidential candidates to answer differently before Iowa and New Hampshire have voted, so I don't see how she could have given a different answer.
Watch her body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice.  She's thinking "Who the f[inks] do you think you are asking me this?!" Also listen to the way she says "Yeah"to Amy Goodman.

Warren is acting like the "Nasty Woman" that Trump accused Hillary of being.  She lacks the temperament to be on stage to outwit Donald Trump.  Take this and the Native American DNA test incident, and you have someone who very easily takes someone's bait.

Black women are a decently sized voting bloc who are 98% Democratic. Turning them out is going to be important for any Democrat. I think we would all be better off with less racially polarized politics, yes. But as it is, this group has earned the respect they get from Democratic politicians.

But the marginal black voters, the ones who came out for Obama and maybe even HRC but who are not guaranteed votes in 2020, are mostly younger black men.

Which happens to be the group with abnormally high Trump support.

Ahahhahahah

Laugh all you want. There have been several polls suggesting this, including the recent NYT poll.
If the Dems nominate someone like Warren, I think there might be some validity to the theory that Trump will do better among black men than normal.

Because they stay home. Not because they’re voting for him. Trump is reviled by black men. No one is coming around to him. The black men that support him are the same conservatives and men with anti-women, anti-gay beliefs that supported him last time.
I never implied that Trump was going to be the one to reverse the GOP's fortunes with African-Americans, male or female.  However, even the eensiest teensiest uptick in support could make the difference in key states and/or in how the popular vote goes.
