Does El-Sayed even have any traction outside Dearborn?

This truthfully should be an easy win for the Democratic Party. The state is D+1, their Republican governor is wildly unpopular, and Trump is below 40% in approval there. It should be easy, if they nominate a populist. Not some centrist corporatist like Hillary Clinton. If they nominate the corporatist, they would be giving the Republicans an chance for victory. If it's a progressive liberal with no ties to corporate America, then they would win easily. The whole theory that if you run to the right as a Democrat in a red state isn't true. Bernie is very popular in Michigan, Ohio, and other states in the rust belt. So just run the right candidate, and they will win easily.
Michigan isn't a red state.  Trump won there by under 10,000 votes and was perceived as an anti-Reagan Republican.

Whitimer rolled out a pretty left-wing economic platform recently:

- $15-an-hour minimum wage
- Repealing Right-to-Work
- Free community college

http://www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20180529/news/661976/whitmer-economic-plan-15-an-hour-minimum-wage-repealing-right-to-work

She needs to start touting this platform to all of the Trump WWC counties as well as the counties with POC this very minute if she wants to win in November.

Sanders is making a huge mistake, and a critical one too considering redistricting is on the line. Michiganders, do everything in your power to support Whitmer. Call, canvass, whatever it takes. You need a seat in the negotiating table or risk being gerrymandered to oblivion.
Looks like you think Donnelly has a shot at a second term after all?

Do people on here actually think El-Sayed is electable?
In a state that went from electing Democrats six times in a row to suddenly electing someone like Drumpf?  HELL no.  Especially given his last name and his faith, not to mention his gun-grabbing views?!  I can see the ads now:

"EL-SAYED wants to take your guns away so his Muslim cronies can take over Michigan and impose sharia law and rape your wives, mothers, and daughters!  Don't let them take your guns away!"

Sure, Whitmer supports some gun controls too, but for some reason, I have a feeling Michiganders will be able to swallow a bland, boring white woman restricting their Second Amendment rights moreso than they would a scaaarrrryyyy Muuusssliiimmm doing so.
