Here's a list of Democratic governors. Who do you think would make the best candidates, Prez or VP, in 2008.

Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano 2002 2006
Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner 2000 2008
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich 2002 2006
Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack 1998 2006
Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius 2002 2006
Louisiana Governor Kathleen B. Blanco 2003 2007
Maine Governor John Baldacci 2002 2006
Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer 2004 2008
New Hampshire Governor John Lynch 2004 2008
New Jersey Acting Governor Richard Codey 2004 2006
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson 2002 2006
North Carolina Governor Michael F. Easley 2000 2008
Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry 2002 2006
Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski 2002 2006
Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell 2002 2006
Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen 2002 2006
Virginia Governor Mark Warner 2001 2005
Washington Governor Christine Gregoire 2004 2008
West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin 2004 2008

I like Vilsack for a number of reasons:

He's a moderate, but doesn't tick off the left as much as Bredesen. He comes from the Midwest, and could likely give us Iowa. And he's a Governor.

I think some people in the party are a little pissed at him for not delivering Iowa to Kerry last year.

Warner, Rendell, Kulongoski, Napolitano and Richardson are the most viable governors for 2008.

From what I've heard, Vilsack wouldn't even win his home state. He is supposedly duller than watching paint dry.

As an Iowan, I can tell you that Vilsack has no chance at the nomination or the general.

By that reasoning, Richardson should be out too.

Am I the only one who thinks "You are bad because you didn't deliver your state" sounds a little creepy? Are we mad at Vilsack because he didn't do something illegal/sketchy to get Kerry the state, which as Governor he could likely figure out a way to do.

Yes. JK. Seriously, he would make a horrible candidate. 1) He has no charisma and he's from Iowa. 2) He wouldn't be able to carry his own state. This is coming from an Iowan by the way, despite what my avater says. Richardson would be a great VP, carrying a large percentage of hispanics in the Southwest and elsewhere.
