anyone willing to test Barak's intuition?  how about his decision when he was PM to abandon the Lebanon buffer zone?  how did that work out?

the problem with Barak is that time and time again he has failed to understand the intentions and motivations of the other side.

he is a man of failed half solutions and failed half messures, who doesnt recognize that the will of the majority of Muslims hasn't changed since 1948.  They have no intention of co-existing with a Jewish state - they never have and never will.

Wait, so, the neocons believe that once Iran has a nuclear weapon, they will immediately launch it at Israel? And then what? Just wait for the world to completely annihilate them?

nice strawman

look, there are no test cases for the rationality of the Iranian leadership, for they dont yet have the means to justify suicide of their nation.

my test is whether or not their ACTIONS match their BELIEFS and WORDS.  So far, they are doing EXACTLY what their beliefs and words would indicate.  To attempt suicide of the Islamic state before having the means to destroy Israel is contrary to those beliefs - that the destruction of Israel would herald a new world order based on Islam and usher in the return of the 12th Imam.

For one to say that at some point the actions of the Iranian leadership are NOT going to match their beliefs and words, is really baseless and is whistling in the dark.  Because if they are TRUE BELIEVERS, they will do as their beliefs dictate, because, believe it or not, some people are willing to die for what they believe in, whether it be a Christian willing to die in order to simply preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ or a Muslim willing to die to destroy Israel.  Those who think the Iranian leadership can't be serious, really do not understand the power of religion.

Period.

Most people - and this includes politicians, even ones who are technically 'clerics' - are perfectly rational from their own point of view. The issue is that this may look extremely irrational to someone with a different idea of what rationality is.

yeah, I'm sure belief in the destruction of Israel and a world based on Islamic rule, in order to bring about the return of the 12th Imam seems "perfectly rational from their own point of view".

Let me put it to you this way - If you had a neighbor on your block saying such things against you, would you give him the opportunity to load a gun and point it at you in the hope that he really isnt serious, or would you put a bullet in his head if he even reached for a gun?

Yeah, the masses in Persia are racists.  Sad really.
Is there any evidence that this appeal to racism is working with most Iranians?

the masses in Persia are not the issue
