Chance the bill passes the senate after Mr. Turtleman came out against is close to zero. If there can't even be a bi-partisan commission that's split 50-50 after a GOP Rep. (Katko) negotiated the deal can't pass the senate, I dunno how much more evidence Manchin and Sinema need to figure out that the Filibuster needs to be nuked.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colorado) calls Trumps Supporters a "Domestic Terror Movement"
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/27/politics/jason-crow-january-6-cnntv/index.html

The Jan 6 Commission Vote in the Senate isn't about Trump, it's about his Supporters!

It's about some of his supporters who were encouraged by their orange buffoon to storm the capitol to prevent the electorate's will from being certified, which resulted in deadly attacks on the police (so much for "blue lives matter" and "pro law enforcement"), calls for executing high ranking officials including his VP and the severe destruction of public property. If that isn't the definition of "domestic terror", I dunno what is.

If the Senate cannot pass a bipartisan January 6 commission, then it has failed as an institution at the detriment of American democracy.

This is the simplest thing, and it's obviously needed.

There should be 100 votes in favor of it.

Yup, but the GOP has decided to play politics with it. They're not even meeting with the wife and mother of a police officer who died from a heart attack after the insurrection. They're cowards afraid of the truth coming out, especially before next year's midterm election. Regaining majorities to obstruct the Biden Admin is more important than finding out what happened on one of the darkest days in American history. It's a total embarrassment for ourselves and makes us look like a joke on the world stage.

Murkowski is a yes, surprising no one. I'm curious who else is there beyond the usual suspects like Romney and Collins.

If this doesn't convince anyone to nuke the filibuster, pretty nothing else could. It's shameful we have one political party in this country that is blatantly ignoring reality and lives in a world of fiction.

It's about time Dems are going full nuclear and not just repeal the filibuster, but start running ads linking GOP leadership to the insurrection. We need to get a lot smarter. What do you think how a vise versa scenario would have played out with BLM storming congress to prevent certification of a Trump win and Dems blocking a bipartisan investigation? McConnell and McCarthy wouldn't just say "ok, there's not much we can do...".

I know that's all frustrating and we'd like to see more stuff get done in bipartisan fashion, but anyone with half a brain has to realize we're not getting anywhere by playing it nice. As sad as it is.

What I find most ridiculous about Trump and the GOP efforts to stonewall this investigation is their insistence to be the "pro police" party when they clearly don't care about the Capitol Police officers that were badly hurt that day. And even refuse to host the widow and mother of a deceased officer. Dems should much more aggressively make this point.
