Yes, the fight between Ford and Reagan gave Carter 62% support in the GE in the summer due to reagan supporters either saying they would stay home or vote for Carter because Reagan lost.





As summer ended Ford slowly regained them and helped by him appearing "Presidential" from the Centennial to a State dinner with Queen Elizabeth.
