It's kinda a vicious cycle of the media dumping on Hillary, and Hillary treating the issue like a vendetta.

Only Richard Nixon's press relations compare.

Until she gets into an election the media is positive towards her.

My best guess is that the media really wanted to sell headlines this time like in the 2008 primary but it didn't happen as much in 2016 because she was stronger somewhat than she was back in 2008.
