There are three principal reasons. The first is that his very presence in the race upsets people whom I personally dislike. Think of that what you will.
Secondly, his candidacy has revived the debate around free trade and immigration, the two most important issues in politics. Both beltway parties have spent decades trying to brush trade and immigration under the rug.
Finally, Trump's ascendency represents a revolt against the politician class that has been steering America towards the cliff's edge for eighty years. The establishment is scared of Trump. The longer that he's in the race and leading in the polls, the less credible they look. That's reason enough to support him.
