Polygamy is neither special nor unusual, overall, in terms of how its core dynamics operate, and in historical terms, polygamous relations are far from unheard of, whether they are recognized in the law or not. Furthermore, how things operate is very dependent on personalities, regardless of how many people are in the equation. What polygamy introduces is the element of multiple spouses and how they get along with each other. If they get along they generally become, together, the dominant party, by sheer numbers. Because this is human beings we're talking about, it varies from person to person and family to family, and we can't generalize too much.
