There is a constituency I think among progressive Democrats who want an alternative to Hillary but somebody who could reasonably win the nomination as opposed to Sanders who would purely be a movement type candidate. That's part of what's driving the draft Warren movement even though she's adamant about not running. How many of those who want Warren to run will end up supporting O'Malley over Hillary when they realize that she isn't?

No, nobody cares about O'Malley and he has no niche. There's not very much overlap between the "Hillary is a far right neoliberal warmonger" group and the "Sanders is a socialist? That's SCARY!" group. Even Webb has more of a niche than O'Malley.

Maybe environmentalists? He has a pretty decent environmental record as governor. He also froze tuition rates in Maryland which could appeal to some younger voters.
