Yeah but Cornyn is more likeable/entrenched/popular than Cruz and will outrun Trump by 5+ points, and there’s no way this seat will be more competitive than IA.

If Beto actually ran against Cornyn he would be the incumbent not Cornyn.

Wut? How would he be the incumbent?

Name recognition from his race against Cruz, and Cornyn isn’t really as well-known as you’d expect.

Cruz wasnt either, and Beto still ran well against him. This is an extremely good poll for the Senate so early if Beto were actually running for the senate instead of a longshot at the presidential nomination.

He could still change his mind.

Candidates for President can pull a Rubio, I'd imagine if Beto flames out he'll do that.
