Brandon Sakbun defeats incumbent Duke Bennett to serve as Terre Haute's mayor

At 27 he will be the cities youngest mayor. He’s a veteran and current member of the Indiana national guard. This is a flip for Democrats.

There needs to be an investigation into absentee ballots there. There is no way this keeps happening by sheer chance.

Given the talk of NY, it sounds like the only place Reps did well there is the Suffolk County exec race? It seems like D-leaning Asian voters bounced back in NYC:

Yes it seems Long Island was the only place they did well. Democrats did fantastic upstate.

Meanwhile, speaking of a blue wave, Pennsylvania is the GOAT again, continuing the blue wave of 2022 with another blue wave this year.

It can't be understated how amazing PA Dems did this year, especially in down ballot races. Outside of the Allegheny races, which are their own thing, they did fantastic in all the major school board and comissioner races, especially not just in the suburbs, but even in some red areas.

They a truly on a roll. One of the best state parties in the country right now.

Republicans did capture the mayoralty in Utica by a landslide margin, but I don’t think you can extrapolate anything from races this local. More to do with the weakness of the candidate on the Democratic side.

From what i've heard she wasn't a great candidate and didn't have a firm vision. Local elections are frequently decided by more local issues. Binghamton City council flipped but how many seats is still yet to be officially determined.

Makes it even funnier that politico decided to publish this piece of garbage back in September.

if there where true I'd then how in the world did they have such an amazing election the past two years.

It appears that NY Dems actually did have a pretty great night outside of Long Island:

And in New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul saw Democrats notch wins across the state, including winning a county district attorney position for the first time in history, flipping the city council in Binghamton, and winning a majority on the county legislature in Cayuga County, a county former President Donald Trump carried in both 2016 and 2020. Hochul, whose party apparatus had a disastrous showing in the 2022 midterms, said she raised $1.5 million for the state party’s work in these races.

Apparently he's the first Republican mayor since Reconstruction.

Just five years ago, Charleston Democrats were celebrating electing one of their own to the very Republican suburban Congressional seat.

Now, the incumbent mayor in their deep blue city lost to a Republican.

How the mighty have fallen.

doesn't mean much. First off its not partisan and local elections are often decided on local issues that aren't found in other places.
