As a Democrat, I would pick Pence. Even though he's no better ideologically-speaking than Trump, I would pick Pence because 1)his temperament is not quite so obnoxious/annoying and 2)he'd probably be the weaker general election candidate.
I still hate them both though, and hopefully both will be out public office on January 20, 2021.
I agree with this entirely. I would add that while Pence is no better ideologically, he is at least competent and wouldn't be an embarrassment internationally. I believe the image of the U.S. has nose dived as a result of Trump's election, and it would be different under a President Pence. I think Trump is less competent than the average american picked at random to be President (I genuinely believe this). I disagree with Pence on policy, but believe he would be able to at least handle the job in a professional manner.
