Gabbard is the incumbent. If her opponent is getting over 30% in the polls, then, yes, she should debate her opponent. However, otherwise, it's pretty stupid to demand every incumbent debate every primary challenger.

I generally agree with this statement, not every incumbent should have to debate joke candidates. But Gabbard was quite vocal in her desire to see more democratic debates at the presidential level. If she truly values debates, she should listen to her own advice and debate her opponent (at least one time!)
