Wilson would probably be less of a racist today given his overall political leanings and academic background. If he was as much of a racist today as he was back then he probably would not be a liberal and instead be the type of conservative academic big on promoting the bell curve.

This.  Wilson was a professor during the heyday of racist progressivism in which the left advocated for eugenics, particularly some of the WASPy "progressive" types.  Xenophobic leftism is now just about extinct.

Election thrown to House, Taft elected.

Given what we know about the outcomes today, there is no way on earth Wisconsin would vote for Wilson. Due to his policies, the Dems only managed 16% here in 1920. The second chance for Wilson would not be kind up here in Dairyland.

Out of curiosity, why would the progressive bastion of Wisconsin at the time prefer a staunch conservative over a more "progressive" Democrat?
