Future generations will look at these governors the same way we look at 1930's America for refusing to take in Jews fleeing Europe.

ahhh.....no. Jews werent planning to impose Torah law on the places they wanted to flee to. And there is no final solution to the Islamic question. Nice try though

If the state doesn't want to accept the thousands of people, too damn bad.

Yes, it is too damn bad for the states. Not only is it unconstitutional for them to simply refuse, but also missing out on 1.) saving people, and 2.) saving people who can contribute to America's society and economy, the same way immigrants and refugees have for decades.

Middle east refugees contribute noting but violence and poverty. If they are christian ok, if they are muslim, no.

... No, let's let in refugees three days after one of them is involved in killing over a hundred refugees. If the government thoroughly vets them, maybe Kasich will change his mind. It's idiotic to just say "Yeah, I'm not checking your vetting process. Let's agree to let them in no matter what."

Can you imagine what would happen if he let them in with "as much warning as Bush" and several of them were involved in an attack on Columbus or Cleveland?

Innumerate idiots who don't understand how probability works, but easily fall prey to senseless fear-mongering, would get even more upset than they are already?

Senseless fear mongering

Wonderful. Still lots of people who think that Middle Eastern/Muslim = terrorist. It's seriously messed up to blame all Syrian refugees for something that a minority group did.

So should we let every single one of them in? How will you make sure none of them are ISIS sleeper cells?

but but, my religion is multiculturalism and diversity. You racist.

Yet the Crusaders killed Jewish, Orthodox Christian and Muslim civilians don't test me bobloblaw.

Which is why the Orthodox didnt request Catholic help to defend Constantanople in 1453. Too bad. Imagine Turkey as a christian country today instead of Islamic dictatorship. But none the less the crusades were a reaction to islamic aggression.

Blame Erdogan for the mess in Turkey, let's just through Islamic in front of negative connotations, that will sure help.

Turkey shows even the most liberal islamic state is ripe for extremist take over.

Turkey isn't liberal, Tunisia is much more liberal and they have a successful democracy going on. Turkey is conservative

Turkey certainly was liberal under Turgut Ozal. It was strongly secular until the early 2000s. Now it is Iran in slow motion.

Friendly reminder to everyone that we have taken in hundreds of thousands of refugees and immigrants over the past 20 years from Muslim countries like Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Kuwait, and Afghanistan and there have been virtually no problems.

Well except the Boston bombings

The interesting thing about the refugee crisis is there have been no published polling. I think this would tend to tell me that the polling is very very negative for those wanting refugees. If the public supported refugees entering the country, youd see it in polling.

In other news, this thread offers the clearest example yet of why I can longer stomach consciously identifying with the GOP. Smiley And I'm a neo-con, to boot!

Actually, I'd go further and say it's an example of how the party system has outlasted its usefulness. As I've mentioned elsewhere,  I believe the No Labels (http://www.nolabels.org/) and Open Primaries (http://www.openprimaries.org/) organizations represent steps in the right direction...

Yes, clearly the politically well-connected Big Refugee lobby is keeping the figures down.

Well we know for a fact that polling outfits have suppressed polls in the past that didnt fit the leftwing narrative. Just two weeks ago a polling firm didnt report Bevin was leading by near double digits over Conway.

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the National Association of Evangelicals, and Anti-Defamation League all support the continued resettlement of refugees.

Even France will continue to resettle refugees.

All religious idiots. The world would be a better place if it as ruled by right wing atheists.
