Dems: Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Michael Bennet, Martin O'Malley (had to sneak him in there
). People usually say Cory Booker, Deval Patrick, Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, or Amy Klobuchar, but 1.) Booker's not married - that creates problems ("Is he gay?" or "Who is the Vice President's new girlfriend?"), 2.) I doubt Hillary would pick a minority or another woman to be her no. 2, it's just too much for the country to swallow at one time (actually if she wanted to double down like Bill did in 92 when he picked another Southerner, then maybe), and if nothing else then 3.) Warren would never agree to be on the same ticket as her. I actually think some centrist Southerner is most likely to be the VP pick. Evan Bayh, anyone?
Reps: John Kasich, Scott Walker (if someone else is the nominee, obviously), Kelly Ayotte, Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez (though I doubt she wants it), Brian Sandoval. Over time, I've gradually come to the belief that the GOP will want a woman or a minority as their no. 2 in 2016. Surely they must know they're trailing with both demographics. If the GOP nominee feels the need to sure up the base, they'll pick Walker or some SoCon like (God forbid) Tom Cotton, who seems to be popular with the fervently anti-liberal base.
