I can't see Ellison as MN Governor, but MN is more liberal than lots of folks realize, and which was obscured by what I consider flukish returns from 2016.
I think its liberalism may have helped Trump (i.e., liberal Bernie backers who didn't vote for Hillary).

Along with rural resentment, it'd be easy to paint Ellison as a big city liberal who is out of touch with Greater MN.

As the 2016 race showed us, Minnesota is one of the few states in which the Democrat can win by not doing much more than just running it up in the urban areas.  On top of that, it's hard for me to imagine Ellison doing worse than Clinton in rural MN; she was uniquely awful for the region.

NO! Clinton won, because she got a not-completely abysmal rural vote in MN, even if it swug heavily towards trump, if you want to lose, take that lesson though.
