Maybe if we were given an iota of respect and paid more than 50% of what engineers are paid, we wouldn’t have to be.

Maybe, if they want to be paid more, then they should be engineers?  Take really hard classes in school for four years, operate under very strict project timelines, and and spend all day on CAD?  instead of, y'know, spending all their time with kids, and getting 2 weeks off at Christmas + the summer, and having virtually no accountability in their positions?

I support Trump on this. This was used as a smear against him and is just locker room talk. Every man is like this and most women too, i believe. I'm demisexual, so not me though. I'm not interested in sex as long there is no deep emotional connection between us. But I believe sex is way too much of a taboo still in our current society and support the sex industry although i will never make use of it. I don't watch porn or visit sex workers because of a lack of interest, not of religious motives. If anything, i'm even glad Trump is so open about sex. Every politician is a ing hypocrite on this. It made me more likely to support Trump! He should be proud of the leaked tape. It shows he's a healthy man.

Listen, I'm not sure why you think you have me all figured out based on ... one thread, but to answer your question briefly: the world is not divided into good people and klansmen. Death of the Author is not really applicable to language or symbols that exist in the real world, and if you can't see why a wealthy white man using that particular word in that particular context was not in the best taste, I can't help you.

Yes, and the social and historical context of that word makes it racist, just as the social and historical context of the swastika makes it a fascist symbol, regardless of the intent of the person using it in a particular case.

I quite literally could not pick up Kurt Vonnegut after stomaching Slaughterhouse 5 and 40 pages into Breakfast at pictograms. All his work is entirely cliché and not even good satire compared to other authors.

America was founded as the land of religious freedom. Related to this, a state religion is always a bad thing.

Why:
America was the land where England sent its religious extremists. Some like Puritans were Taliban-like, while others like the Quakers were just considered odd.

As far as state religions, I would argue that the lack of a state religion is what led to today's fundamentalism. For all practical purposes, New England had a state religion, and isn't particularly religious today. Southern colonies were Anglican (and less religious than the rest of the nation), but the church didnt have much influence in sprawling rural areas, which led to every idiot interpreting the scriptures in his own nutty way. Sometimes its nice to have scholars interpret sources - imagine if you were teaching a class in your specialty and every student googles up some nonsense and claims you're wrong because google says so.
