ATTENTION, NORTHERNERS!

By act of the Legislative Committee of the North, a referendum to ratify (or reject) the proposed Constitution of the Northern Region will be held a week from today. The text of the proposed Constitution may be read at the link below.

Text of the proposed Northern Constitution

A referendum to select the capital city of the North will be held in conjunction with the ratification vote. This vote will be conducted according to the following regulations set forth in the bill passed by the Legislative Committee:

• All Northern citizens have the right to nominate cities to become the capital of the North
• In order to be included on the ballot, the nominated city must
(a) exist within the territory of the North; and
(b) be seconded by another eligible voter
• The capital will be selected via Instant Runoff Voting

Citizens should nominate and second cities in this thread.

The referendum will begin at 12:00:00 AM (EST) on Friday, August 12 and conclude at 12:00:00 AM (EST) on Monday, August 15. Questions and concerns may be forwarded to myself or to Deputy Chairman Cinyc.

I nominate Charleston, West Virginia. Simply to have an additional city on the ballot paper.

I think West Virginia is in the South, not the North.  At least, our proposed constitution doesn't mention WV as a Northern state.

Yep. Everything South of the Mason-Dixon line is part of the Southern Region.

Actually it wouldn't Truman. Marriage isn't purview of the federal government. It's for the regions to decide and the federal government gets no say. It's part of Federalism.

The Supreme Court has ruled otherwise. Sorry.

The new governor and delegates take office immediately, so go ahead and swear in! As I recall, the next session of Congress begins on Friday, September 2, which is when Scott will officially take his seat. Since Clyde was elected to the House of Representatives as well as to the Assembly, he will remain a delegate until September 2, at which point he will need to resign that office to assume his seat in Congress.
