Republican No theory of government is without flaws, but republicanism is perhaps the closest mankind has come to developing a political structure that successfully balances the rights of individuals against the needs of the community. Every other political system I know of is either irrational in conception, unworkable in practice, or both.
Federalist Balancing power between local and national authorities is an imperative in a country the size of the US, where an all-powerful national government would be prone to ignore local concerns and all-powerful states would severely weaken our economy and international stature. I won't go so far as to say a federal system is right for every country, but it's certainly the best option for the US.
Social Liberal Individuals have rights, and the purpose of government is to protect those rights. In the early days of the US, men like Jefferson and Madison held that an overbearing government was the biggest threat to those liberties; I would argue that, in today's world, societal forces that prevent upward mobility and vest power in the hands of the few is of much greater concern. As such, I support government action to remove these barriers.
