Becoming Gov of NY ruined any chances of him becoming president as he had to deal with the Eliot Spitzer aftermath and GOP in the state legislature, OMalley has clearly become the alternative to Clinton.

Elliot Spitzer had been out as governor for at least 2 years prior to Cuomo being elected governor. I fail to see how that made a difference one way or the other.
Given Cuomo's failure to help Democratic state legislative candidates, I highly doubt he minds that the Republicans control the state senate.
