As someone who is a moderate conservative id easily go with the 2010-present GOP given they are less isolationist, more moderate on economics , much less protectionist , and more pro immigrant as well

Probably the first one since they were a.) more genuinely conservative and principled, and b.) much less of a cult (of Trump), than they are today.

Not really, the Republicans then basically completely turned on the FP of the 1896-1916 iteration of the GOP and moved in a super isolationist way. The second one is mainly cause there was really no such thing as primaries in those days which let the party bosses basically controlled the party. I can assure you if the same was true today then Trump would never have been the GOP nominee to even begin with let alone have the hold of the party he does today.

On other issues though such as Immigration, remember that Tom Cotton's immigration bill from 2017 which was considered very anti immigrant is still nothing compared to the immigration bill that passed in 1924 . On the issue of trade, Trump's tarrifs and position on trade would be an extreme pro free trade stance compared to the ones the GOP took on back in those days.

Even on the GOP is more bigoted today isnt true , even from a relative standpoint. Remember the GOP ran outright anti catholic campaigns in those days, tried to purge minorties from positions in the GOP and it goes on and on.

Lastly while some may say Republicans had progressives in the party then, they basically were the equivalent of what Phill Scott is today and were pretty much run out of the party anyway.
