Could someone who's normally a Democrat but blamed Carter for stagflation and Iran vote this way?

The question is why he or she didn't vote for John Anderson? A tactical Reagan vote to make sure he wins and ousts Carter?

Could be that they were afraid Anderson would take away more votes from Reagan than Carter .

In the South and North East Urban areas I would say Anderson took more votes from Carter but in the Suburbs Anderson probably took more votes from Reagan . So I would say it depends on the county
